predictions for the 2015 post season

It seems like just yesterday it was opening day here in New York for the Mets and now fast forward six months later to everyone's surprise they have made it to the post season for the first time in 9 years, NINE YEARS! David Wright himself didn't think it would have taken this long! Talk about taking winning for granted back in 2006. Sheesh!

But the point is, we made it. THEY MADE IT! Both New York teams in the postseason in the same year once again. Granted, the Yankees were just eliminated last night losing the Wild Card game to the Houston Astros after most of the Yanks couldn't quite seem to get the bat to connect with the ball. Regardless of that, it's most definitely going to be some fight to the finish. I've compiled this kinda-sorta-somewhat chart with my predictions for the rest of the post season with the Mets coming out on top because duh. And I can hope can't I?

Wild Cards:
AL: Houston Astros (which I predicted by the way)
NL: Chicago Cubs (because why not root for the underdog right)

all star game 2014

Just like that it has come and past once again. The 85th Annual 2014 All-Star game was just as amazing as any in years past. This one was special like last year as we said goodbye to yet another legend of baseball, THE captain, Derek Jeter in his last All-Star Game. Jeter now has 14 All-Star Games in his back pocket.

The starting pitchers for both leagues we're Felix Hernandez a.k.a. King Felix of the Seattle Mariners for the American League and Mr. Adam Wainwright a.k.a. Waino of the St. Louis Cardinals for the National League.

In the first inning Felix had his first strike out of the night courtesy of Yasiel Puig. Wainwright on the other hand found himself in an early jam. With Derek Jeter batting leadoff for the AL he gets the expected standing O from all at Target Field then, Wainwright gives up a two base hit to the Yankees Captain. This is where things got a little interesting. Never a dull moment in baseball right? After his outing Wainwright allegedly tells a reporter that he purposely threw a few intentional balls to Jeter because he felt as though "he deserved it". Of course, Waino caught some immediate heat via social media for his comments he claimed was taken the wrong way and soon cleaned it all up in a dugout interview later in the game. ANYWAY, back to the inning, Wainwright continued to pretty much give away the inning to the American League by allowing a triple to Angels Outfielder Mike Trout. Waino also struck out Seattle second baseman and ex-Yankee Robinson Cano but gave up a two-run homer to Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera putting the AL up 3 nothing in the top of the first.

Jon Lester, pitcher for the Boston Red Sox leads off the second inning. The National League is also able to score two runs in this inning cutting the American lead 3-2. Clayton Kershaw was the second pitcher in the NL rotation for the night.

Derek Jeter played shortstop for three innings before being switched out with Chicago White Sox Alexei Ramirez. No doubt the captains performance was hailed with another round of prolonged applause by each fan in the stadium.

--Fast forward! --Now, for the moment Mets fans have been waiting for! Daniel Murphy the ONLY player representing the Mets this year in the ASG, got his turn to play second in the bottom of the seventh. Murphy played two innings and went 0-1 for his only plate appearance which by the way, the bases were loaded with the tying runs in scoring position... come on Murph!

The American League beat the National League for the second year in a row in a 5-3 victory.
